Isuzu
The beginning of Isuzu dates back to 1916, when the Japan-based company, Tokoyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, decided to expand its horizons and venture into the automobile business. The company joined the United Kingdom-based company, Wolseley Motor Company, in 1918, but it wasn’t until 1949 that they introduced their first car and truck. In that same year, they changed their name to Isuzu. The name, Isuzu, comes from the name of a river in Japan, important to their culture, that flows through a province with many ancient Shinto shrines. In 1975, Isuzu established the Isuzu Motors America Inc., with the first vehicle sold in the US called The Pup.
Isuzu, since 2009, has focused entirely on trucks, as they have a heavy investment and market for medium and heavy-duty trucks, which comes as a demand from the market, and not necessarily by choice. Isuzu also specializes in diesel engines, with are not only used in Isuzu’s, but Renault, Opel, and General Motors.
Isuzu car, truck and SUV models include, but are not limited to, the Isuzu Bellett, the Isuzu Florian, the Isuzu 117 Coupe, the Isuzu Gemini, the Isuzu I-Mark, the Isuzu Stylus, the Isuzu Piazza, the Isuzu Impulse, the Isuzu Storm, the Isuzu Aska, the Isuzu Trooper, the Isuzu Pickup, the Isuzu Pickup TF, the Isuzu Amigo, the Isuzu Rodeo, the Isuzu Panther, the Isuzu Hi-Lander, the Isuzu Oasis, the Isuzu Hombre, the Isuzu Rodeo Sport, the Isuzu VehicCross Halo, the Isuzu Axiom, the Isuzu Ascender, the Isuzu I-280, and the Isuzu I-350.
